Interlink Media’s Television Production Process Overview

I. Pre-production

  1. Concept development
    1. ascertain audience needs/expectations
    2. scriptwriter and producer work with content expert(s) to determine content
  2. Script development
    1. scriptwriter submits treatment for approval to designated person
    2. breakdown of approved treatment for special effects, graphics, talent, locations, teleprompter, special production needs
  3. Location co-ordination
    1. schedule talent(s), location(s) and crew(s) as necessary
    2. make travel arrangements (air, van, hotel)
    3. ascertain production equipment needs

II. Production

  1. Video
    1. Digital DV taping on-location and/or studio
  2. Graphics
    1. create graphics, lower thirds, and animation elements
  3. Sound
    1. audition narrator talent and select/record music tracks
    2. audition on-camera talent
    3. record narration track(s) at Audio Post Philadelphia

III. Post-production

  1. Digitize video into Final Cut Pro edit suite
    1. log each tape
    2. digitize possible segments
    3. assemble digital time-line of audio elements, interviews
  2. Create sound tracks
    1. make hard copy transcription of selected interviews
    2. create paper rough-cut of script for client approval
    3. edit music, special effects and narration sound tracks
  3. Prepare digital rough-cut
    1. assemble digitized video, sound and graphics elements
    2. client changes/approval to rough-cut
  4. D. Edit master
    1. edit visuals per client changes
    2. add opening/closing graphics and credits
    3. add special effects and lower-thirds
    4. mix edited sound and narration to pictures
    5. create DVD for client approval and distribution
